Thought I might share some of the work, that I have been busy with for whst seems a very long time. These are just a few illustrations for a book that I have very nearly finished for a charity in Hackney.
I've seen some more of these on your GCI portfolio, haven't I? But what I just can't figure out precisely is what kind of technique you use. Is it watercolour? Or digital? Or a bit of both?
I'm afraid that I'm not technical at all. I'm a slave to the dip-pen and I colour up with Acrylic ink and gouache. I love the vibrancy of the inks contrasting with the matt of the gouache. I'm guessing that you use watercolour and ink?
...and gouache a little too. And sometimes I'm trying - with hesitation - to find my way in the digital world, but I still prefer the handicraft. I'm really much of a "digiterate"!
We thought we would try having a GCI Artists blog and have our own exclusive artists' community. All GCI artists are welcome to join in and add pieces of artwork for peer review or discuss illustration problems and solutions etc. Obviously we'll need to see how it develops and whether its purpose needs refining but I guess until we start using it we won't know what we want from it. This blog is visible to everyone who visits the GCI website so you may wish to bear that in mind. So over to you ladies and gentlemen...
This blog is open to all GCI artists so if you would like to contribute or need any assistance using this blog, please contact Duncan who will do his best to get you up and running.
